LIn November 2023, Southern Gulf Islands Tourism and Partners + Hawes brought The Art of Nothing Gallery Pop-up to life to drive travel to the islands during the off season. The immersive art installation at KOU Studios launched on Black Friday encouraging Vancouverites to escape the noise, clutter and chaos of the day, providing a space to unwind and refocus with the sights and sounds of the Southern Gulf Islands, the creative heart of BC, designed by local art duo, The Automatic Message.

To promote the campaign and the gallery pop-up, kin was contracted to support with PR efforts which included planning, executing and hosting an exclusive media and influencer preview. The event had 75+ influencers and media in attendance leading to a surge in social media sharing the evening of, and media coverage promoting the pop-up encouraging locals to experience firsthand the Art of Nothing.

  • Implemented a traditional media outreach campaign, including two press releases, event listings and targeted media pitching to secure editorial coverage across local and regional media outlets.
  • Invited and hosted 75 local lifestyle, travel, art, food and beverage influencers and media to an exclusive preview of the Art of Nothing Gallery Pop-Up.
  • Coordinated event details for the exclusive influencer and media preview.
  • Offered interviews with Southern Gulf Islands Tourism representative and the pop-up artists, The Automatic Message.
  • Positioned the Art of Nothing Pop-up as the antithesis of Black Friday, and a must-visit free local event to take in ahead of the busy holiday season.
  • Conducted a one hour media training session to support Southern Gulf Islands Tourism’s spokesperson.
